We have a fancy term for Music and Movement in the music world called Dalcroze Eurythmics. This was a method started by Emil Jacques Dalcroze, a Swiss composer and music educator, who spent many years observing how children first connect to music. It was all through movement and mimicking sound through humming and singing. Through this he developed a method that is used worldwide to aid in the learning and understanding of music. So, what is this class? In my 15 years of experience teaching children of all ages I have tailored a class that includes the following aspects. First, we teach your child to learn to listen to musical cues and through movement connect to the rhythm of music, which is one of the foundational steps of learning. Second, we learn fun songs that help us to learn musical concepts without really feeling like learning at all! And third, we introduce types of music and all the instruments in a fun interactive environment that never feels like a chore and always feels fun and integrative! This will allow you and your child to explore the possibility of learning a musical instrument in the future, which we all know has numerous advantages to your child’s social, emotional, and intellectual development!
This class will focus on the performative aspects and the freedom your child can build from an early age to learn to perform and be creative. This class takes classic improvisational techniques and tailors them to young children so that they can learn to express themselves through action and storytelling. It’s also a great way to encourage your child to learn those important social skills needed for any classroom situation. All games and exercises give our students the opportunity to learn to work together and be creative and innovative in a group setting! All of this is done in a gentle and nurturing way that will help our students and your children to grow in a manner which encourages an organic process that feels natural to them!
