The benefits of putting your child into music class at a young age and encouraging them to continue into their teens have numerous scientifically proven benefits. We all know the science that says learning music helps your child to be better in math specifically, but did you know that music lessons can also help stimulate your child’s language skills and reading? It’s true! When a child learns to read rhythms and notes on a page, even at a rudimentary level, they learn a new musical language. These skills are invaluable and the same skills that are used to become good readers! The movement portion of our classes will teach body awareness and simple skills like following direction, along with critical thinking skills to decipher different rhythms and sounds of music. I have had students that have learned to read music and decipher simple musical phrases at just 3 and those are sometimes their first experiences with reading anything at all!
The drama classes will afford your child numerous social and personal benefits! We strive to teach your child the gift of expression through simple story telling and empathy. When a child learns to become a character it not only increases their emotional understanding which will allow them to ultimately be smarter and more empathetic and aware people as they grow in this world. And the “icing on the cake” is that they don’t even realize any of this while they are learning it just grows ORGANICALLY through exposure. Which is the way most young children learn. We aim for these classes to be fun, active, and jam packed with the enjoyment of learning so your children don’t even think of it as a class. In conclusion, perhaps the best “WHY” to taking these classes are that they give your children so many skills that they will be able to carry into life. You will not only build a bond with the other families in the class but will also foster a strong sense of community and happiness all in a 1 hour class! We hope you will join us!
